I’d like to share with you a letter I recently received in response to my blog:
“Greetings!
I saw your blog and I love it! I am a newbie getting started as an agency girl in New York. During my research into the business, I found your blog and read every last post. It was illuminating to say the least and helped me confidently make the jump into escorting. So far things are going well and I find that I enjoy the work more than I expected. I don’t have to work more than a few hours a week so that means I probably see 2 or 3 clients and that is perfect.
Anyway, I felt motivated to write to you. Keep writing!”
This girl now makes a $1,000 an hour with her agency, which is great (not like Florida rates – yeeurgh), and I have to say I feel good about influencing her to take a step that she’s happy with.
This girl has it right. Research is everything – especially in this business. However, I’ve been reading blogs, reading various sites and boards, and everything in between and have found one glaring absence. Where are the posts and bits of advice about advertising for the girls who are just starting out?
There seems to be two types of women in the business – those that view us newbies as Baby Hos and those that want to help and guide. It’s a bitchy business, we’re female after all, but when there’s certain amount of danger involved, there shouldn’t be the stigma against our own kind.
So. Have you run across any advice about advertising and/or do you have some yourself?

Yes, this is one hell of a bitchy business – don’t trust most of what you hear from other women. Even if they don’t have an axe to grind against you, what works for them might not work for you.
That said, there are a couple of forums where newcomers can explore and ask questions – one is http://www.aspd.net. Be warned – there are some really nasty bitches – and men – on there. That said, there is a lot of information and ideas on there, and you might attract a client or two.
A far pleasanter board in my opinion is http://www.thebluepond.net on the west coast. I’m sure you can find a lot of information there too.
My ideas about advertising – well I did make a big point about Eros being unreliable, expensive and difficult to work with, but they do seem to get better clients for girls more reliably.
There are a lot of sites where you can spend money and time and they will just tend to sap your energy, that’s all. But maybe they work for some – like http://www.bigdoggie.net, http://www.cityvibe.com, http://www.girl-directory.com.
