Sex and the Financial Crisis

December 13, 2008

astream12Things are tough for many people as we know and a lot of lousy things are happening. In response to financial pressures there are more women on the game and some people’s prices have dropped. A lot of people consider suicide at times like this, whole families are forced into compromising circumstances. And things don’t look like they’ll get better anytime soon.

What else is new?

I like to think that out of every lousy thing something good will come. Now people have to address not using credit freely, not being a consumer as a hobby (shopping freaks?), not having kids without resources. And choosing things and relationships with real meaning and worth.

Last night I went to a concert in Miami (Air Supply) and the opening act was Tom Wait. The main guitarist sang a beautiful song that he’d quite recently composed, about sitting by a stream and part of it commented on putting his feet in the water and how wonderful it was, what a real richness in life.

Now perhaps we’ll appreciate the simple pleasures of life more often en masse – that’s got to be a good thing.
